WINTER 2018/19 KICKING & STRENGTH TRAINING SESSIONS

Kicking practice sessions – 90 minutes of Kicking

Sessions are intended for athletes of all skill levels who are looking to improve their skills while kicking through the winter. Coach Filipovic coaches the sessions. Athletes will receive tons of individual attention in a structured instructional setting – focusing on their specific areas that need improvement. During these kicking sessions, athletes can expect to take 50 – 80 full kicks.

Kicker strength training sessions – 60 minutes of Strength Training

Sessions are designed to improve kicker’s power and consistency through a series of functional strength exercises that target kicker specific needs – balance, range of motion, joint stability, core strength and foot speed. Athletes of all ages are welcome to attend. We do not perform any heavy lifts or exercises to exhaustion. We utilize body weight, resistance bands, variety of balance props, and light dumbbells. You will not leave the sessions exhausted; just physically challenged in a kicker-specific way.

It is recommended that athletes attend both kicking and strength training sessions. But they are welcome to attend only kicking or only strength training.

EVENT DETAILS

Kicking Sessions

  • Kicking sessions are usually attended by 5 to 8 athletes. Most sessions sell out.
  • Every session consists of 1) Kicking warm-up drills, 2) Full kicking with instruction from coach Filipovic
  • Every athlete should bring kicking shoes, field goal block, kickoff tee, holder, and few footballs. We will have equipment and footballs for athletes to borrow if needed.
  • Plan on arriving 10 minutes early and loosen up a bit on your own without a ball – stretch, do some light jogging, move your hips around a bit, etc.
  • COST: $100 per session

Kicker Strength Training

  • Strength training sessions are usually attended by 4-6 athletes.
  • Training sessions consist of: 1. short warm up, 2. series of resistance and balance exercises, 3. kicking drills, 4. cool down stretches.
  • Training takes place in a spacious, state of the art, functional training gymnasium located inside the Chicago Fire Dome.
  • Every athlete should bring comfortable athletic clothing and gym shoes.
  • COST: $50 per session
